There is a Parents Only Private Facebook page. You will need to answer security questions; what is your student's first and last name? and, what year will they graduate? This is for PARENTS ONLY - not for students or extended family members.
INCOMING FRESHMAN PARENTS
Welcome to our band program! As a freshman parent, activities can quickly get overwhelming as you enter into this next chapter.  Be sure to attend our Spring meeting in the Mt. Spokane Theater, date and time TBD and will be updated to the Calendar when details become available. The Bandstand is our parent group and are here to try and guide you through the process the best that we can. Did you know that once your student becomes a member of the Mt. Spokane Band Program, you also become a Bandstand member?
The Mt. Spokane Bandstand will communicate in a few ways to our families. Primarily, all information shared throughout the program will come from an email, the BAND app or posted on our private Facebook group; click the links at the top of this page.  It is very important that all contact information be kept up-to-date as we all of you to be as informed as possible. Please make sure that your current email is on file with the organization. If you need to update your information contact the Bandstand.

SPRING MEETING

Our annual Spring meeting will go over what to expect for the upcoming year, outline expectations, communication avenues, band fees and events. Please keep an eye on the "
CALENDAR" tab for the updated date and time of the Spring meeting.

For all intents and purposes, we are striving to be direct and transparent with information. There is a load of questions that surround the first year in our Band Program and it is our objective to cover all topics to keep you informed and prepared.

::    IMPORTANT KEY TOPICS    ::

*If you are a parent with a student that is NOT participating in Marching Band, you will need to bear with the amount of communication and alerts that will overtake the BAND app. With that said, there is still communication coming in regarding car wash and concession fundraisers that you can signup for, and band program updates that you need to be aware of through June to November. Marching Band season begins in August and finishes in November. Your student's Concert Bands' information will start in October, so please continue to read all posts on the BAND app.

*On the other side of that subject, being a parent with a student in Marching Band is... A LOT! We hit the ground running - things start rolling immediately in June with Car Wash and Concession fundraisers to begin preparing for the season to start in August. Band Camp is for two full weeks in August, unless your student is in Drum Line or Color Guard, then it is the first 3 weeks of August. Students will learn how to march with their instrument, memorize their music and their dots (places/spots) for all the formations of the show, clean up their technique, and  rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Marching Band will begin performances during half-time at the football games starting the first week of school, and Marching Band Competitions are almost every weekend in October. Therefore, rehearsals for Marching Band are after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-6pm, and Saturdays from 9-4pm.

Please keep in mind, Marching Band is an extracurricular activity, it is optional, it is not a class on a student's schedule. It is just like a Season for a sport, hence, Football games' half-time shows. Parents are needed to help put the show on the field. Volunteers will place sound equipment on the sidelines and assist with prop locations. For out of town competitions, chaperones will assist with meal preparation and cleanup, as well as prop and equipment assignments.

The Marching Band season can feel consuming, it can be exhausting, and it is totally worth it!  Once you run through your first round, you will be ready to rock for the future seasons.

  • VOLUNTEERING

The Bandstand is a dedicated group of people who volunteer their time and talent to ensure the success of each band and color guard student at Mt. Spokane.  We are here to support the needs of our organization, providing vital support to all aspects of the program.  We serve as your communication liaison, offer fundraising opportunities, coordinate volunteers, build and maintain props, manage uniform fittings, host events and so much more. The success of these events cannot happen without the support of individuals throughout our program.  Please visit our "Volunteer" tab for more information.

  • FUNDRAISING

Fundraising is a key component to the success of the Band Program. Our fundraising efforts help support the needs of our organization as well as provide individual fundraising opportunities for our  students to help pay for season fees and travel.  Our "Fundraiser" tab gives an overview description of what to expect, and SignUpGenius is the platform we use to coordinate opportunities that happen all-year round, several times a month.
